Our Dream on the Azores
We are Marcel and Elze, both nearly 60. Feeling too old for the modern hustle yet too young to sit idle, we decided to start a new life on the Azores. Here, we aim to live off the rental income of our accommodations while enjoying the island’s tranquility and nature.
From City Life to Self-Sufficiency
After years of city living across the Netherlands, Germany, and Hungary, we found the perfect spot on the Azores. We’re building our own tiny house from a shipping container, working toward an off-grid, self-sufficient life, and enjoying the wild nature in between maintenance projects.
Vegetable Garden, Orchard, and Botanical Garden
On our property, we’re creating a vegetable garden and orchard for fresh produce. Additionally, we dream of building a botanical garden to showcase the native plants of the Azores, complete with educational information for our guests.

Onze Droom op de Azoren
Wij zijn Marcel en Elze, beiden bijna 60. We voelen ons soms te oud voor de moderne drukte, maar te jong om stil te zitten. Daarom hebben we besloten om een nieuw avontuur te beginnen op de Azoren. Hier willen we leven van de verhuur van onze accommodaties en genieten van de rust en natuur.
Van Stad naar Zelfvoorzienend Leven
Na jaren in steden te hebben gewoond in Nederland, Duitsland en Hongarije, vonden we de perfecte plek op de Azoren. We bouwen ons eigen tiny house van een zeecontainer en werken dagelijks aan een off-grid, zelfvoorzienend leven. Tussen onderhoud door genieten we van de wilde natuur om ons heen.
Moestuin, Boomgaard en Botanische Tuin
We werken aan een moestuin en fruitboomgaard op ons terrein voor zoveel mogelijk verse producten. Daarnaast dromen we van een botanische tuin met inheemse planten van de Azoren, compleet met uitleg en toelichting voor onze gasten.

Somos Marcel e Elze, ambos com quase 60 anos. Sentindo-nos velhos para a agitação moderna, mas jovens para ficar parados, decidimos começar uma nova vida nos Açores. Aqui, queremos viver da renda do aluguel de nossas acomodações, aproveitando a tranquilidade e a natureza da ilha.
Da Vida Urbana para a Autosuficiência
Depois de anos vivendo em cidades da Holanda, Alemanha e Hungria, encontramos o lugar perfeito nos Açores. Estamos construindo nossa própria casa pequena com um contêiner e trabalhando para viver fora da rede, aproveitando a natureza selvagem nos intervalos das tarefas de manutenção.
Horta, Pomar e Jardim Botânico
Em nossa propriedade, estamos criando uma horta e um pomar para fornecer produtos frescos. Além disso, sonhamos em criar um jardim botânico que mostre as plantas nativas dos Açores, com informações educativas para nossos hóspedes.
